Shawn was an up-and-coming rap artist who had been writing lyrics since high school. Through me, his brother, sisters, family near and far, and the friends he called brothers, we will ensure that his name and music live on. We will be doing amazing things and helping many in his name, just as he would have done.
My son DID NOT deserve the tragic act that took his life.
Shawn graduated from RFM Christian Academy in 2010 as Valedictorian and also played basketball there. He went on to attend Central Christian College in Kansas, where he was a member of the basketball team and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. While in school, he worked tirelessly—sometimes holding three jobs at once—to provide for his household.
A few months after graduating college, he returned to Cocoa, FL. Shawn worked hard to create a better life for his family. He worked in production, made deliveries, and even became a third-grade teacher. He loved teaching that class and mentoring his students, who thought the world of him.
Shawn loved animals, especially his dog, Jango.
The rumors being spread about my son are lies—disrespectful not only to him but also to the women and men who genuinely suffer from abuse. There is so much more to Shawn’s story. All he wanted was to be happy, to spread that happiness to everyone around him, and to be a father.
No matter how long it takes, we will continue fighting for justice—just like so many other victims’ families in this country.
WE ARE going to push for change in these laws that protect those who do wrong while working to save lives in the process.

Shawn will not die in vain. We will keep his name alive.
Throughout his short life, Shawn helped and saved so many people. And just as he did in life, he will continue to do in eternity—saving and helping.
God bless.
